Marema is Dakar, Senegal's fiercely independent, Afropop it-girl. Her unique take on Senegalese mbalax, Afro soul, and Manding musics of Mali & Guinea recently earned her Rfi: Radio France Internationale's Prix Découverte for 2014, a highly competitive award for new artists from across the Francophone world. Newly embarked upon a solo career, Marema gained recognition as a backing vocalist with such renowned Senegalese artists as Awadi, Yoro Ndiaye, Sidi Samb, Takeifa, and Idrissa Diop. Her ongoing collaboration with guitarist / producer Mao Otayeck (Alpha Blondy, Salif Keita, Stevie Wonder) has resulted in two hit-singles in Senegal with plans for a full length release in 2015.
